Delivering high-performance air conditioning and MVHR installation for retail environments, this Crocs store project at Caledonia Park Designer Outlet showcases how IRS combines energy-efficient HVAC systems with seamless design to create comfortable, visually appealing commercial spaces.

We recently completed a full air conditioning and MVHR installation for a brand-new Crocs store at Caledonia Park Designer Outlet in Gretna. From the outset, the goal was simple: create a comfortable shopping environment while keeping the store looking clean, modern, and uncluttered.
Retail spaces aren’t just about products on shelves; they’re about experience. That’s why we focused on delivering a solution that quietly does its job in the background, keeping the space cool, fresh, and welcoming without drawing attention to itself.
Set within a busy designer outlet, this store sees a steady flow of customers throughout the day. That meant the HVAC system needed to be reliable and consistent, maintaining a comfortable temperature no matter how busy it gets.
By installing efficient air conditioning and ventilation systems, we helped create an environment where customers can browse comfortably, and staff can work with ease.
We delivered this project on behalf of the Silvaman Group, working closely with their team from start to finish. Good communication and collaboration made a big difference, allowing everything to run smoothly and ensuring the final result met expectations across the board.
Every retail space is different, so we designed a system specifically for this store. We took into account the layout, ceiling space, and how the store would be used day-to-day to make sure the system performs exactly as needed.
We installed air conditioning cassette units that deliver even, reliable cooling throughout the shop floor. These units are ideal for retail environments as they’re both effective and discreet.
To keep the air fresh, we installed a Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR) system. This helps bring in clean air while retaining heat, making the system energy efficient and cost-effective over time.
We also fitted a toilet extract system in the back-of-house areas to ensure proper ventilation and maintain hygiene standards.
A key requirement from the client was to keep the shop floor looking as minimal as possible. To achieve this, we installed the MVHR equipment in the back-of-house area, completely out of sight from customers.
Even though the system is hidden, it still performs exactly as it should. By aligning it with the dividing wall and venting into the main retail space, we ensured smooth and effective airflow throughout the store.
The air conditioning units were installed at a high level above the lighting track. This keeps them out of view while allowing cool air to circulate evenly across the space.
To make everything blend in, all visible elements, including the cassettes and cable trays, were RAL-painted black. This small detail makes a big difference, helping the system disappear into the ceiling design.
One of the biggest challenges in retail projects is making sure the system works well without impacting the look of the store. In this case, we managed to strike that balance by hiding equipment where possible and blending in anything that needed to be visible.
Space is always at a premium, especially behind the scenes. We carefully planned the layout to make the most of the available space, ensuring everything fits neatly without affecting performance.
Improved Customer Comfort and Experience: A comfortable environment makes a real difference. When customers feel at ease, they’re more likely to stay longer and enjoy their visit.
Energy Efficiency and Cost Savings: Modern systems like MVHR and energy-efficient air conditioning units help reduce energy use, which can lead to noticeable savings over time.
Compliance with UK Ventilation Standards: All systems were installed in line with current UK standards, giving peace of mind that everything is safe, compliant, and built to last.
At IRS, we understand what it takes to deliver reliable HVAC solutions in busy retail environments. From design through to installation, we focus on getting the details right, so your system works efficiently and fits seamlessly into your space.
This project is a great example of how the right air conditioning and MVHR installation can make a real difference in a retail space, improving comfort, efficiency, and overall appearance without compromise.
