Architectural Wallsz was moving to a new building, which had originally been a warehouse, and was undergoing conversion into an office and showroom. The space didn’t have any HVAC systems in place, so the challenge was to design and install a completely new system to regulate the temperature and air quality.

The New Office Had Some Unique Requirements:

• Open-plan working area with a 7-metre high exposed ceiling
• Five individual offices with suspended ceilings
• No openable windows, meaning effective ventilation was essential
• The system had to maintain a comfortable temperature throughout the year

With these factors in mind, it was crucial to consider a HVAC system installation that wouldn’t compromise the building’s aesthetics but would still operate with great performance.

The Solution: A New Air Conditioning and Ventilation System

Here’s a breakdown of the air conditioning system and ventilation solution that we proposed and installed:

Air Conditioning Equipment

• Main Office: 1 x 12.5 kW Twin Split Cassette System
• 2-Person Office: 1 x 2.5 kW Compact Cassette System
• Small Office: 1 x 2.5 kW Compact Cassette System
• 6-Person Demo Room: 1 x 3.5 kW Ducted System
• 4-Person Meeting Room: 1 x 2.5 kW High Wall Mounted System

Ventilation Equipment

• MVHR: 1 x 250l/s Heat Recovery System
• Elta Fans TL150 Inline Extract Fan

We also took care of the ventilation system installation to maintain good air quality, given the lack of openable windows.

Working Around the Design and Space Constraints

One of the biggest challenges was dealing with the high ceiling void, which made fixing and access more complicated. Our team worked closely with the site contractors to make sure we could fit the systems properly without disrupting the overall design.

Additionally, the fan coils needed to blend with the building’s aesthetic. We provided several options to Architectural Wallsz, so they could choose a solution that met both the functional and visual requirements of the space.

To keep everything on track, we worked with the client to develop a three-phase installation plan that aligned with their fit-out schedule. This ensured that our work didn’t cause any disruption to the project’s progress.
